Forest officials rescued an antelope that fell into a 50-foot-deep well in central India's Madhya Pradesh on February 6.

The incident took place in the Bamhori Renguwan region of the Sagar district.

Footage shows the team of forest officials rescuing the nilgai - a large Indian antelope - from a colossal well situated amid a clearing.

They tied ropes around the animal and pulled it from either side of the well.

The nilgai displays signs of agitation as the officials, along with the locals, pull it to safety.

Once on land, the team uses a vehicle to drag the animal further on the ground.

Later, the nilgai frantically tries to break free of the rope tied around its legs.

The forest officials calm the animal and free it before releasing it into the wild after the four-hour rescue operation.

The nilgai fell into the well on Friday (February 5) night, following which a local alerted the forest department the next morning.

The officials immediately swung into action and rescued the animal.

Since the well is in proximity to the forest, animals often stray onto the region.
