Deaf New Jersey dad and daughters share their amazing family communication
This is the incredible heartwarming story of Kevin Nadrowski and his two daughters, Bailey and Dakota, who show through their deafness how a family communicates best.
Nadrowski grew up with his grandmother and felt he would never be a father until he met his partner, who changed his life and gave him his greatest gift, his two daughters.
"I didn't have parents. Now I have daughters, I'm trying to make sure they live their life to the full," Kevin signs in the video from his East Hanover, New York home on January 28.
Precocious Dakota, aged 4, is less enthused about being recorded than her even-tempered sister Bailey, aged 5, as the family plays charades and shows off their great fun.
Nadrowski told Newsflare: "We do play Charades a lot since I bought the game on January 21. The goal of this game is to try to get them to gesture instead of using American Sign Language, which is their first language. It was hard at first, but then they caught on."
The compilation also showcases Nadrowski's fun NFL-style scouting combine and homemade obstacle course to keep them entertained during the COVID-19 lockdown. He challenges Dakota and Bayleigh through a range of exercises, testing their speed, strength and throwing accuracy.
In a 2017 interview with the Today show, Nadrowski explained how his family found out he was deaf when he was 11 months old.
"They had no clue what to do with me," Nadrowski said about growing up with the disability. "I was never exposed to experiencing what my daughter did."
He added: "Hearing status doesn't make you a better person, your humanity does."
