Woman shot during Myanmar anti-coup protests dies, the first known fatality of ongoing unrest

A woman shot in the head during an anti-coup protest in Myanmar capital died on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Mya Thwet Thwet Khine, who recently turned 20, had been in a critical condition since last week when police tried to disperse protesters using live rounds.

Distressing eyewitness video shows the woman, who was dressed in a red T-shirt and wearing a helmet, being struck and falling to the ground during the protest.

A hospital in Naypyitaw confirmed her death at 11:00 local time (04:30 GMT), according to reports. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, reports said.
