Voter registration is taking place in the West Bank and Gaza today (February 10) as upcoming elections in the region are planned for May 2021.

The field registration process will continue until the evening of February 16.

So far, about 2.4 million Palestinians have registered in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and they constitute 85% of the number of citizens eligible for registration, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The registration rate is expected to reach 90 percent when registration closes.

The field registration process will continue until the evening of Tuesday 16 February.

The meeting of the Palestinian factions in Cairo announced, at the end of their dialogues yesterday evening, that they had reached an agreement on the mechanisms for conducting the National and Legislative Council elections and the presidency.

The factions agreed to form an electoral court unanimously, judges from the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem that monitor everything related to the electoral process and neutralize any other judicial body, in addition to liberating freedoms without restrictions.

And they agreed to hold a meeting next March in Cairo to lay down the foundations and mechanisms for forming a new National Council through elections and consensus.

Now, after the meeting in Cairo yesterday, we are sure that the train will reach the final stop, which is the legislative elections on 05/02 and the presidential elections on 08/31.
