This warthog sure knows how to relax as it bathes in a luxurious mud bath in the sun.

The pig is seen having a snooze as its body is submerged in the muddy pool in Kruger National Park.

Warthogs submerge themselves in water or mud to cool down and relieve themselves of any insects that may be on their body.

The Common Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is a member of the pig family – its name refers to the ‘warts’ on its face. Warthogs have two pairs of tusks that protrude from the mouth and curve upwards, as well as a mane of coarse hair running down the spine. Warthogs are the only pig adapted to savanna and are omnivorous, taking a wide range of foods including fresh grass, roots, fruits, insects and even carrion. Warthogs love wallowing – it cools their skin in hot weather as well as helping them get rid of ectoparasites such as ticks when they rub the mud off on rocks or logs.
