Israeli forces on Monday (February 8) demolished and confiscated tents in the Humsa Al-Bqai’a Bedouin community in the northern Jordan Valley.

In one week, Israeli forces demolished and confiscated 46 structures that had been donated by humanitarian organisations.

Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), said: “Israel appears determined to force Palestinians out of their village of Humsa Al-Bqai’a, depriving them of basic shelter and making their lives miserable, while destroying international aid donated to the most vulnerable.”

Israeli occupation forces today returned to the battered Humsa al-Bqaia Bedouin community in the northern Jordan Valley
to remove the tents provided by humanitarian agencies to form as shelters for the families whose homes were recently demolished by the Israeli army, according to sources.

soldiers arrived at the site and started to remove the tents in their efforts to force the Palestinian residents of the community to relocate to another area under the pretext the current location is a military training area, a pretext the army uses to empty the land from its Palestinian residents.

Israeli forces recently demolished or confiscated 46 structures in Humsa al-Bqaia, leaving 60 people, including 35 children, displaced and at risk of forcible transfer. Many of the affected structures were donor-funded and had been provided as a response to previous mass demolitions or confiscations.
