Two bombs were detonated in eastern India by police after being discovered buried under a road.

The two devices, weighing 40kg, were discovered and detonated by police near Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand after reportedly being planted by an ultra-left group.

According to security personnel on the scene, the bombs were planted too deeply to be removed so a bomb disposal squad defused the bombs safely.

Smoke and debris released from the blast rose nearly 40 feet and destroyed a part of a nearby road. The joint operation was conducted by state police and Central Reserve Protection Force.

Indian security personnel defused two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing 40 kilograms near Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand in India. As the bombs were too deeply planted inside the ground the security personnel were not able to dig them out. So the bomb disposal squad defused the bombs at the same spot.
