A frenzy of ice skating took off this weekend in the Netherlands' Eindhoven on Sunday (February 14).

Footage shows residents in Park Meerland on the outskirts of the city enjoying the frozen over lakes with ice skating and ice hockey.

Ice skating on frozen lakes and canals is a winter tradition in the Netherlands, as well as walking on the ice.

Ice skating frenzy takes over the country as the lakes are frozen. People in the Netherlands have fun as they enjoy the week-long cold snowy weather with subzero temperatures resulting lakes, creeks, ponds, rivers and canals to freeze. Crowds are seen in Park Meerland close to the city of Eindhoven, during a blue sky sunny day, to have fun while ice skating, a Dutch tradition, walking on the ice, playing with their sleighs or playing ice hockey.
