Clouded leopard is saved from local residents rampage in Indonesia.

In footage filmed at Animal Health Center (Puskeswan) Tanah Datar, West Sumatra province on February 16, show animal health officers feeding the clouded leopards that put in a cage.

This poor clouded leopard has a spinal injury and a wound to the neck.

Animal health officers in collaboration with the West Sumatra Province Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) will take care of these protected animals until they recover before released into their habitat.

Previously, this female wild cat with an age estimated 6 years-old entered residential areas near the plantation bordering the forest.

"And then, local man surrounded and caught the clouded leopards that entered their village," said Eka Damayanti, Head of the Regional Conservation Section II of the West Sumatra BKSDA.

The clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) is a wild cat inhabiting dense forests from the foothills of the Himalayas through mainland Southeast Asia into southern China. The first clouded leopard known to science was brought to London from China in the early 19th century and described in 1821.
