A parrot was rescued after becoming entangled in the netting on a balcony in Pune, western India.

Footage from February 7 shows rescuer Saidas Kusal restraining the agitated Alexandrine parrot while he uses scissors to cut free the trapped bird.

Kusal said: "The bird was scared but had not suffered any injury. As soon as I left, it flew away.”

An Alexandrine parrot chick sat on a net that had covered a balcony at a ninth floor flat in Pune in western India on February 7.

The bird found that the strings had entangled its claws and tried to free itself with its beak and neck, which also got trapped.

When rescuer Saidas Kusal responded to a call from the family, he found that the alarmed bird was desperately flapping its wings and crying in terror to free itself.

The experienced rescuer restrained the agitated bird with one hand and cut through the net with a small scissor. He then drew the bird inside and removed a few strings that were attached to its body and set it free.

Saidas said: “The bird was scared but had not suffered any injury. As soon as I left it it flew away.”
