A group of men hunting wild boar in Indonesia on Wednesday (February 17) stumbled across a giant reticulated python measuring 23 feet.

Hunters from the Agam District of West Sumatra arrived at an oil palm plantation hoping to spot boar but instead noticed the huge reptile inside the trunk of a fallen tree.

It took ten men to haul the giant snake from the tree trunk and place it in a sack.

"We removed the snake by snaring it with a rope. Even with 10 people, had a hard time removing it," hunter Mukhlis Effendi said.

The hunters said they caught the snake over concerns that it was eating livestock and pets.

According to Effendi, the hunters hadn't decided yet what to do with the reptile and were considering where to relocate the animal.

The reticulated python is the world's longest snake.

The non-venomous species has been known to kill and eat adult humans.
