The police arrested three miscreants belonging to an inter-state gang involved in several automated teller machine (ATM) thefts in central India's Madhya Pradesh on February 19. The incident took place in Panna.

A video shows the items that the cops seized from the miscreants, spread out on a table. The retrieved items packed in separate transparent packages, rest on the counter while the officials elaborately explain the details of the case. The team stands around the items and talks about the arrest.

The police apprehended three goons involved in several ATM thefts across Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. They seized cash worth Rs 60 thousand ( USD 827), four android cell phones worth Rs 50 thousand (USD 689.17), and a car worth Rs 4 lakh ( USD 5,513) from the accused. They also retrieved 40 ATM cards of different banks, registered under different names, from the miscreants.

Rajaram Bagiri, a resident of Phulwari, registered a complaint with the Devendra Nagar police station about his missing ATM card on September 28, 2020. Rajaram went to an ATM associated with the State Bank of India, located on the Devendra Nagar- Satna road, where a few locals switched his card under the pretext of helping him. Later, transactions worth Rs 2 lakh 5 thousand ( USD 2825.58) were made from his card across several cities.

Following this, the Devendra Nagar police station registered a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified miscreants. The authorities formed a team for the identification and arrest of the goons and launched an investigation into the matter. With the collective efforts of the police and the cyber cell officials, the team tracked the miscreants with the help of their car.

The team tracked the car en-route to Panna from Satna, following which they inspected every passing vehicle at the Satna-Panna border. Upon questioning, the team identified and apprehended the miscreants. Once in custody, they confessed to duping Rajaram Bagiri and conducting several frauds amounting to about Rs 5 lakh 10 thousand (USD 7029) from different parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
