A CCTV camera at a station in northwestern India has captured the moment a man tried to push a woman under a moving train after she refused to marry him.

The footage, which was captured at Khar station in Mumbai on February 19, shows the suspect drag the woman across the platform before trying to shove her beneath a moving train carriage.

Concerned commuters rush over and the man flees the scene.

The woman survived the brutal attack with injuries to the head and needed 12 stitches.

Police arrested the suspect who they have named as Sumedh Jadhav.

According to police, Jadhav and the woman worked together for two years.

Jadhav allegedly became enraged when she refused his offer of marriage citing his alcoholism.

The incident is said to be of Khar station in Mumbai in Maharashtra, India.

The CCTV video from 19th February 2021 has captured the gruesome incident based on which the police have arrested the culprit Sumedh Jadhav for the crime.

As per the police officials both of them worked at the same place and knew each other since two years.

The man had accosted the woman for marriage and asked her to come along with him while they were both inside the Khar station, but she refused to go along with him as she came to know that he was an alcoholic.

Enraged at the refusal of the woman the man took the gruesome step and pushed the woman in front of the train. He tried pushing the woman through the gap of the train and the platform in an attempt to kill her but a few bystanders rushed to her rescue.

After the failed attempt, the man fled from the spot.

Fortunately, the woman survived with severe head injuries and had received around 12 stitches in her head.

The police swung into action and arrested the culprit within 12 hours.
