A wild bear was rescued after falling into a 20-foot-deep ditch in eastern India's Odisha on February 23.

Footage shows part of the 10-hour-long rescue operation undertaken by local wildlife officials in the district of Nabarangpur.

It is believed the bear was looking for food and inadvertently plummeted into the ditch.

Villagers soon realised it was stuck at the bottom and alerted the authorities in the forest department.

After the bear's eventual rescue, it was released back into the wild.

A wild bear in Deuli village of Nabarangpur in Odisha was rescued by a forest official with the help of villagers from 20 feet deep ditch in a 10 hour long rescue operation.
The incident happened on 23rd February , in search of food during night hours the bear might have fell into ditch according to one of the local .
Unable to come out bear was growling attracting villagers attention , who later informed to forest department. Forest officials used rope to rescue the bear . The bear was later released into the forest after medical examination
