An alert railway security officer saved a man's life, who tried to commit suicide by lying amid the tracks at a railway station in western India's Maharashtra on February 24. The incident took place at the Virar railway station, located in Mumbai.

CCTV footage shows the busy railway station.

A man descends to the tracks and spreads a white sheet in the middle of it. He then proceeds to lie down on it, waiting for a train to pass by.

Panic ensues among the onlookers as they crowd the platform to behold the experience. As a locomotive approaches, a railway security official rushes to the man's rescue and drags him off the tracks, just in time.

The officials dragged him off the tracks and escorted him towards another platform as the locomotive arrived at the station. Distressed by his mother's recent demise, the man attempted to commit suicide by lying in front of a moving train.

However, the railway security personnel rescued him on time and were also lauded by the Union Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal, for their timely efforts.
