Security forces bust terrorist hideout, recover cache of weaponry in northern India
Security personnel busted a terrorist hideout in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on February 26 and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the region. The incident took place in the Reasi district.
Visuals show the security personnel conducting a search operation in the region. One of the officials descends to a hilly area and searches the ground with a detector. He meticulously places the device over several rocks to uncover the hideout. Later, the team spreads out the recovered arms and ammunition on a table and stands around it.
Acting on a tip regarding suspicious movement, a joint party of Jammu and Kashmir Police from the Mahore police station, the army, and the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) 126 Battalion launched a cordon and initiated a search operation in the Upper Sildhar Forest area, Rousowali Top, Ranjati top area, and areas in proximity to the Dagantop hills.
The search party uncovered an underground hideout and retrieved a huge cache of weapons, including explosives and automatic rifles, from there. The security forces seized one AK-47 rifle with 22 magazines and 150 cartridges, one rocket launcher, 16 under-barrel grenade launchers (UBGL) grenades, four hand grenades, and two very high frequency (VHF) radio sets with antennas.
The operation was closely monitored by authorities such as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Dr. Khalid Ashraf, Addl Superintendent of Police Reasi, Surjeet Bhagat, and others. The police registered a case under the Explosive Act and other relevant sections of the law and launched an investigation into the matter. Moreover, a prior terrorist hideout was uncovered on February 18, wherein another cache of arms and ammunition was recovered.
