Nestled in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the Rushegura group of Mountain Gorillas. The forest straddles the borders of Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. The Rushegura group is one of the larger units and often stay close to the entrance near the Buhoma community camp. Their howls can be heard from the site's restaurant that overlooks the forest canopy. This footage was taken in 2013 alongside a camera crew from Japan's NHK channel. The Rushegura group was led by silverback Mwirima but he died in 2014, several months after this footage was taken. The group is now led by blackback Kabukojo.
