The MEC for community safety in the Western Cape, South Africa, visited the families of young men in Beacon Valley who were shot on Thursday evening. Two of the men died from bullet wounds.

During his visit, Albert Fritz pledged support to the families and also confirmed he would be attending the funerals.

Fritz also expressed disgust at a letter of condolences sent by the foundation of former president Jacob Zuma to the families. Fritz accused Zuma of meeting with gang bosses during his tenure as president.

A total of six people have been shot and killed in Mitchells Plain since Thursday. Police have activated their 72-hour plan to apprehend the suspects.
