Traditional Chinese chamber pots were sold as "fruit baskets" on Amazon for up to 20 times the price paid by people in China.

The video, filmed in Shanghai on February 27, shows spittoons being sold in a local shop.

The shop owner named Fei Baoying said: “It is hilarious that foreigners bought the spittoons and just put them in their backpack. I asked them why did they buy so many spittoons. They told me they would use it to grow flowers. They said the spittoon is Chinese artwork.”

A picture in the video shows the spittoons being marketed as traditional fruit baskets and were being sold for around £29 on Amazon.

However, the average price of the spittoon is only around 20yuan (£2.23) to 30yuan (£3.34).

The video was provided by local media with permission.
