Bizarre sea creature crawls along a street in the Philippines
Footage shows a bizarre sea creature crawling on a street in Sulu province, the Philippines, on December 28.
Villager Judimar Paddam said he was on his way to a friend’s house near the sea when he saw the bizarre marine creature.
The creature dragged itself on the concrete floor using its tentacles attached to its small round-shaped body.
Judimar said: ‘It was my first time to see that kind of animal and it looks creepy but I decided to bring him back to the sea after the video.’
The marine creature is believed to be a ‘brittle star’, also known as serpent stars, or ophiuroids. They crawl across the seafloor using their flexible arms for locomotion.
However, the brittle star seen in the video is believed to have been washed ashore and moved onto a residential street instead of going back to the sea.
Judimar added: ‘I didn’t know what it was. I’m a bit worried about what it’s doing now. I hope it’s safe back in the sea.’
