Residents cleaned up ash-covered streets after Mount Sinabung erupted in Indonesia on Tuesday (March 2) sending clouds of ash up to 5km (3.1 miles) into the sky.

Footage filmed on Wednesday (March 3) in the village of Sukatendel in North Sumatra shows residents cleaning driveways, fences and roads.

Mount Sinabung, one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes, erupted on March 2, spewing volcanic material that moved 5,000 meters into the air. Indonesia is on the Pacific Ring of Fire, which accounts for 80 percent of the world's seismic activity.
