A Vietnamese man has transformed an old van into a mobile home by installing several solar panels onto the roof.

Dinh Trung Ngan, who lives in Ho Chi Minh City, assembled three solar panels onto the roof of his vehicle allowing him to charge his phone and use his laptop, as well as for other electrical devices.

Ngan bought the van for 310 million Vietnamese Dong (£9,729) in 2015 in order to practise repairs on the vehicle.

He said: "Initially, I did not have electricity when working on the road, asking for help was very difficult, then I thought about solar panels.

"I did all the research by myself, after studying it, I found it beneficial since I also know a little about mechanics, so I did it myself.

"Every day I have to clean the panel because if there is dust or mist on the panel, the power capacity will be weak."

This old car was Mr. Dinh Trung Ngan bought to practice car repair on the sidewalk. Mr. Ngan has invested in three solar panels assembled sun on the roof of the car connected to the battery and some supporting devices to create a basic living line. Total cost for the electrical system solar energy is nearly 40 million VND.

This car I bought for five years, in 2015, cost 310 million VND, at first I did not think to buy a car to repair a car, but due to my family situation, I had to go repair the car to make money, then I left my tools get on the car to go fix the car

Later, I buy more measuring equipment to know when the weather is good to give me more electricity, and when it rains, if there is less electricity, I will calculate the use of electricity.
Most of me only use for fans, lights, laptops, phone chargers, but if I want to use more capacity, I have to go through a converter, now serving 100% of my needs.
Every day, I have to clean the panel, because if there is dust or mist on the panel, the power capacity will be weak.
