With more than 6,000 books, the Museum of Textbooks in Al-Salt is an archive portraying a whole educational era in Jordan since the establishment of the Jordanian state, which is approximately 100 years of education in Jordan.
In the museum, there are books dating back to the eighteenth century, a hundred year-old globe, high school report cards from the 1940s, postage stamps and pictures of the Hashemite family, as well as most curricula and school books that were taught in Jordan’s history. It offers a documentation of the different stages of development of the educational process over the past century.
It portrays an important stage in the history of knowledge and education that accompanied the establishment of the Jordanian state in 1921.
Supervised by the Education Directorate in the city of Salt, the museum is believed to be the only one of its kind in the Middle East and is a destination for researchers in the fields of education.
