Staff from India's forest department worked for seven hours on Saturday (March 6) to rescue a leopard that fell into a 60-foot-deep well.

Locals sounded the alarm after finding the big cat stuck in the water source in Ratona village in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Rescuers used ropes to lower a bed down to the stricken feline which then leapt onto it to escape the water.

Officers then darted the leopard with a tranquiliser, covered it with a net and hauled it to safety.

The feline was taken to Bhopal for treatment to minor injuries before being released into the wild.

A leopard which fell into deep 60 feet deep well in Sagar's Ratona village was rescued after 7 hours of rescue operation . Leopard has to be tranquilized before rescuing it out of the well .
The leopard fell into farmer Sitaram farm land well . There was about 10 feet water in well . According to local villagers the leopard might have came here for search of water and fell inside . The villagers when saw a leopard informed forest department , the forest team arrived by 12:30 pm and started the rescue operation.
A bed was tied with ropes from alll the four corner so that leopard jump on it . Once the leopard came over it , it was tranquilized and another net covered it from upward and pulled outside .
There was some injuries on his body , forest team took leopard to Bhopal where it willl be treated and than will release in forest .
