Chiang Mai in Thailand has the world's most hazardous air pollution

Chiang Mai city's air quality has reached hazardous levels, some monitoring stations showing AQI readings above 400 for PM 2.5 particles which is 16 times the WHO standard. At 12.00 local time (5 am GMT) the city had the worst air pollution in the world. Air pollution has cost an estimated 520 deaths in the city in 2021 according to IQAir.
Much of it is due to agricultural burning, although this is currently banned.
