City of Cape Town officials destroy shacks in township
City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officials escorted temporary labourers into Makhaza to level and destroy shacks that had been illegally erected on City owned land. The officials were supported by officers from the public order policing unit of the South African police service.
Shacks that had already been occupied were not destroyed as occupied structures can only be removed in terms of a high court eviction order.
