My young Staffordshire Bull Terrier hates to go in to his crate, as he seems to consider it a prison, and he makes such a fuss at night that he ends up sleeping on the sofa. Just recently he started scratching his ears and I bought some doggie ear drops to cleanse his ear and remove the excess wax and debris. I had used the drops before, but it was obvious that he remembered what was about to happen. Today, he started scratching and I told him that I wanted to clean his ears and that it smelled really nice, but as soon as it registered what was about to happen, my dog took himself to jail. Knowing how much he hates going in to his crate. When I called him to me he left his crate and when I explained again that I was going to cleanse his ear, he ran back to his crate. It is obvious that the jail is his preferred hiding place of choice because he knows that I can’t get in to it.
