Breathtaking aerial view of Taal Volcano in the Philippines
Magnificent footage shows the Taal Volcano seen from a plane flying over the crater in the Philippines.
Charmia Callos was flying from Occidental Mindoro to the capital Manila province when the plane flew over the volcano on March 6.
She said the volcano in Talisay province was barren and covered with ash following the eruption last year.
She said: ‘I feel a bit sad because the landscape was barren and covered with ash but even though the volcano had changed, it was still amazing and breathtaking to see it.’
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PhiVolcs) raised Taal to alert Level 2 today (March 9) which suggests evacuation is not yet recommended but the public is reminded that the area is a permanent danger zone and entry must remain strictly prohibited.
At least 39 people died following the eruption on January 12 last year.
