Smith’s Bush Squirrels, also known as Tree Squirrels (Paraxerus cepapi), are the most common squirrel in the wooded savanna of Southern Africa. Territorial family groups sleep together in tree holes, and families are bound together, sharing their common scent by mutual grooming. Young Squirrels remain with the group until they become sexually mature between 6-9 months old. In this touching scene an adult Tree Squirrel is grooming a youngster near the Shingwedzi Rest Camp in Kruger National Park.
