Chinese father ignites 2,000-square-metre lawn after magnifying glass experiment goes wrong
A father ignited a 2,000-square-metre lawn using a magnifying glass during an experiment with his son in eastern China.
The video, filmed in the city of Shanghai on February 21, shows fire spreading on the lawn after a father named Liu and his son used a magnifying glass to concentrate sunlight to ignite the grass.
Liu reportedly called the firefighters to the scene but as they arrived he and his son left the site sneakily.
Police found that Liu was the person who set the fire after checking the surveillance camera and Liu also admitted it was his fault.
Police have fined him. The video was provided by local media with permission.
