A couple of soldiers managed to carefully rescue a 3-metre-long python after it became entangled in a high-voltage power line in Padang, Indonesia.

The soldiers used a wooden stick to dislodge the snake from the top of the pole.

With the help of a third man, the two soldiers were able to pull the python from out of the power lines without receiving an electric shock.

Saiful, a witness, said: "The snake was successfully evacuated in about 20 minutes. The two soldiers were immediately assisted by the community to put it into a sack."

This footage was filmed on March 12.
