Many workers gathered at the 'Association of Nursing Graduates' (ALE in Spanish) to carry out a "protest caravan" on Thursday demanding the Government of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) for "recognition of the professional career, the increase in wages and provision of vaccines for the district health personnel", according to union sources.

The protest was called under the slogan "Larreta ningunea to Health Professionals", and it left from Plaza Congreso and minutes later arrived in the vicinity of the Buenos Aires Obelisk, where a joint document was read with the claims of the health sector.

In that document, the ALE members demanded that the City increase the budget to cover the salary increase for health professionals, and recognition of the nursing career.

In addition, they demanded that vaccination against the coronavirus be prioritized and ensured for workers in the City's health system.

Carolina Cáceres, a nurse at the Tornú Hospital and also a reference for ALE, said that "in addition to the salary issue and working conditions, we have to add a critical situation that is that the entire staff of health professionals has not yet been vaccinated".

"In fact," she added "a doctor on duty at the Fernández Hospital died last week because she was not vaccinated. No one from the political power demands the elementary: that the patents for anti-Covid vaccines be released and that they be produced by the state, public and massive. And to avoid blues, we say to Larreta: leave us to those who know how to manage the administration of vaccines."
