Following the incident, the Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat announced that he has handed in his resignation to the Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh in the wake of the Al-Hussein New Salt Hospital incident.
Obeidat declared that he bears a moral responsibility towards the incident.
"I take moral responsibility for the oxygen supply shortage in the New Salt Hospital."
According to the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Sakher Dudin, the resignation of the minister came by royal order.
Additionally, His Majesty King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah also went to the hospital, wherein he ordered for the dismissal of the hospital's Director, Abdelrazaq Al-Khashman.
In addition, the director of Al-Hussein New Salt Hospital, three of his assistants, and a supply officer were arrested for a week in a correctional center and are being held on charges of seven counts of murder by association.
Sunday, the Parliamentary Health Committee began its emergency session to discuss the repercussions of the Al-Hussein Salt New Hospital tragedy, which claimed the lives of nine individuals. Seven are confirmed to have died from a lack of oxygen.
Amman's Attorney General, Hasan Al-Abdallat, said that the relevant authorities carried out an autopsy to determine the cause of death of the eighth individual, and it was found the individual died due to COVID-19 complications and not lack of oxygen.
However, sources have not mentioned what caused the death of the ninth person.
The Minister of Interior and the designated Minister of Health, Mazen Al-Faraya announced that the armed forces have begun establishing a factory to supply oxygen to hospitals across Jordan.
