Female students in Indonesia create robot waiter to serve in canteen
A group of female students at a school in Indonesia successfully built two robots that work as cafe waiters in their canteen.
Nine 16-year-old students with a supervisor at the Diniyah Putri school of Padang Panjang City, West Sumatra Province, built robots named Sabai and Midun, filmed here on March 15.
The Diniyah Putri school is an Islamic school for girls and the robot construction was part of one of their extra-curricular programs.
Ra'an Shalih, the supervisor of the robots construction, said "The robot named Sabai Diranxang has a control stick movement system that can work for 3 hours, while another robot named Midun moves with a black and white line sensor system that can work for only 1 hour."
Shalih, 27, added that "Me and the team of nine female students needed approximately 4 months of work and spent a budget of tens of millions of rupees."
Meanwhile, Fauziah Fauzan, the head of the Diniyah Putri school, said that: "This robot was created because of the current conditions in the COVID-19 outbreak, so this is a form of innovation so that cafe services continue to run."
In the future, these female students hope to make improvements to the motor robot movement and movement. because at this time the new robot can only help deliver food and talk to enjoy enjoying a meal.
