A music conductor directs hundreds of citizens to sing patriotic Chinese nationalist songs nightly in Fuzhou , Fujian Province's downtown WuYi Square Park.

'Red Songs' are grand chorused-style classic nationalistic songs developed during the Cultural Revolution. The songs generally glorify and represent revolution, communism or socialism as well as including elements that represent happiness, harmony, being positive and healthy. This now timeless music sung during these nightly concerts predominantly praises the party and its leadership.

The citizen choir is predominantly made up from retirees who sang the songs in their youth praising the Communist Party of China, the People's Liberation Army, the People's Republic of China and socialism. They all remember the song verse and bond together as they reminisce about times past. Holiday weekend singing crowds here can grow into the thousands.
