Homeless people are seen on the streets of London, where more than 10,000 people sleep rough every year.

Following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the government is prioritising people in England who are homeless or sleeping rough for the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine.

The homeless are now eligible to get Covid vaccine through their healthcare provider, alongside those aged 16 to 65 with underlying conditions that put them at increased of the virus.
It has been recognised that those experiencing rough sleeping or homelessness are often unable to access basic healthcare, have a higher risk of poor outcomes from Covid-19 and high rates of other undiagnosed illnesses.

The JCVI's advice has been shared with experts leading vaccination programmes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
