Fans ignore police warnings and take to hilltops to watch Cheltenham Races
Horse racing fans took to hilltops around Cheltenham Racecourse today to watch Ladies' Day at the Festival. The event is being held behind closed doors. Fans ignored warnings from Gloucestershire Police not to try and watch the racing from nearby Cleeve Hill. Cheltenham Police had originally said they would be patrolling the beauty spot: "Officers will be patrolling a number of areas in Cheltenham including Cleeve Hill, as part of their usual patrols, to ensure that people do not begin to gather due to the event being behind closed doors."
