Hundreds turned out for a peaceful vigil in New York's Union Square on Friday evening (March 19) to remember the six victims of a massacre in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Among them was Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, who told the crowd: "We stand firm, we speak to the better angels of America. We love everybody and we fight violence, with every atom of our bones. And we, not the bigots, not those who are violent, will win this fight and prevail."
