Thousands of hikers are flocking to a volcano in Iceland that erupted on March 19 near the capital, Reykjavik, some taking selfies near rivers of molten lava.

Spectacular aerial drone footage filmed in 4K on March 21 captures the volcanic eruption at Fagradalsfjall in Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula and shows onlookers at the scene.

Some hikers have roasted marshmallows and hot dogs over the cooling lava, according to reports. But one attempt at a cooked breakfast went wrong went lava seeped into the pan.

Scientist believe the lave is coming deep perhaps from the mantle of the earth 17-20 km deep.
