A lack of clean water has forced villagers living in Sarang, Odisha, to collect water from muddy puddles.

Footage shows a group of women scooping up the visibly dirty water into their containers which they then carry back to their village.

One of the villagers claimed that they sometimes find insects in the water they collect.

"We want the government to give us tube wells so that we get clean groundwater. This is a place where water scarcity is the major problem. The government promises a lot of things but even pure drinking water is not available in the area. They are forcing to use water that is not fit for drinking and is unhygienic. The government must do something," they added.

This footage was filmed on March 21.
