Thousands of tourists became stranded at Putuo Mountain Scenic Area as boats on the island were suspended due to the heavy fog in eastern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province on March 31, shows a large number of tourists flooding a wharf.

According to reports, lots of tourists visited Putuo Mountain during a religious event.

The local authority sent buses to transport all stranded tourists to hotels for free and charged a lower price for the accommodation

The boat transport has returned back to normal and the stranded tourists left the scenic spot gradually on Thursday (April 1).

3月31日，浙江舟山海域因大雾封航致数千名游客滞留普陀山景区一夜。

昨天，恰逢农历二月十九，普陀山观音香会节，岛上游客众多。截至昨天下午2时20分，普陀山对外航线全线停航时，仍有数千名游客滞留码头。 普朱管委会立即采取措施，多方组织协调岛上交通、安排住宿，妥善安置所有滞留的游客。
对滞留游客，普朱管委会协调普陀山客车公司、民宿酒店等参与疏导、安置工作。“目前，普陀山上的所有公交车都免费运送游客，将原先滞留在码头的游客送至住宿点。”该相关负责人介绍，普朱管委会还对普陀山岛内住宿价格实施行政干预，以远低于往常香会节期间的市场价格提供给滞留游客。
其中，普通民宿200元一间、商务酒店400元一间，共落实平价民宿691家、酒店11家，安置滞留游客4000多人。
还开放普陀山剧院作为临时安置点，供游客免费过夜，并提供相关帮助和服务。
昨天晚上11时左右，全部滞留游客安置完毕。

据普陀山游客服务中心工作人员介绍，31日晚，政府已帮助滞留旅客安排住宿，不允许民宿和酒店抬价。31日晚间至4月1日早间，景区公交车可供滞留旅客免费乘坐。4月1日7时许，船班恢复通行，截至9时许，滞留旅客已陆续离开景区。
