Homes flooded after summer storms bring heavy rain to Thailand
Homes were flooded after heavy rain battered northeast Thailand over the weekend.
The country’s Meteorological Department said the summer storms brought heavy rain, strong wind and hail to the north, northeast, east, central and upper south regions.
Hundreds of properties were damaged and many were flooded as drains struggled to cope with the deluge at the start of Thailand’s hot summer season.
Kanin Sukontaphong from Nakhon Ratchasima province suffered a flooded home with more than 30cm of rainwater covering the floor on Sunday (April 4).
He said: ‘All of my electrical appliances and belongings inside the house are damaged. My neighbours have also suffered.’
Forecasters said the torrential weather was due to a high-pressure system from China that was moving across the country towards the capital Bangkok.Homes were flooded after heavy rain battered northeast Thailand over the weekend.
