Restaurants destroyed as summer storm hits northeastern Thailand

This is the moment a restaurant was damaged when summer storms smashed into Thailand on April 4.

The resort was among dozens of buildings damaged when the gusts slammed into Mukdahan province. Trees were also uprooted and electrical posts were blown over.

A team of rescue officials led by village chief Chaibancha Wongwai worked to restore power had to evaluate all the damages that happened in order to cover them up for the affected family.

He said: "The northeastern region of the country has been at risk of being hit by the summer storms so everyone needs to be careful."

Thailand’s Meteorological Department said the summer storms brought heavy rain, strong wind and hail to the north, northeast, east, central and upper south regions.

They warned said the torrential weather was due to a high-pressure system from China that was moving across the country towards the capital Bangkok.
