'Interesting footage has surfaced from Guelph, Canada showing a Venus Flytrap calmly trapping its next meal.

Recorded by Will Short, this clip features the carnivorous plant detecting a bug on it before shutting itself to kill its prey.

The filmer explained: "The trigger hairs lining the inside of the trap need to be touched 2 times in a row. This creates an electrical signal that travels to specialized water-filled cells. These cells release water and relax, causing the trap to close."

This hunting scene was caught on camera on May 12, 2018.
