This hairdresser in southern China uses a pair of red-hot tongs to curl customers' hair.

The video, filmed in the city of Mianyang in Sichuan Province on April 7, shows an elderly woman heating up a pair of tongs in fire and then an elderly man named Zhou Shiyi using a pair of hot tongs to curl a female customer's hair.

According to Zhou, he learnt the skill when he was 14 years old. Curling hair with hot tongs was popular in the 60s and 70s but it is very rare now.

It took around a dozen minutes to half an hour to curl a customer’s hair.

The skill is fading now as no one wants to learn it anymore, Zhou said.
