Firefighters rescued a 5-year-old boy trapped in an abandoned well in northern China.

The heroic video, filmed in the city of Haicheng in Liaoning Province on April 6, shows a 5-year-old boy trapped in a 30-centimetre-wide well, 5 metres under the ground.

Firefighters used an excavator to dig a hole next to the well and then tore down the side of the well to take the boy out of it.

After around four hours, the boy was rescued successfully and he was not injured seriously.

The boy reportedly fell into the abandoned well accidentally when he was playing.

4月6号中午12点46分，辽宁鞍山海城市消防救援大队接到报警，海城市腾鳌镇一所学校附近，发生儿童坠井事故，情况十分危急。接到报警后，海城消防救援大队立即出动3车，15人赶赴现场。
消防员到场后发现，孩子掉入的是一处废弃的枯井，井口直径约30厘米，井深无法确定，被困的是一名5岁男孩，男孩玩耍时不慎掉入井中，被卡在距地面大约5米的位置。由于井口狭小，消防员无法进入井中施救。现场指挥员决定先用挖掘机在井口一侧垂直挖掘，直至儿童被困深度，再横向破拆井壁。消防员和孩子家长在井口不间断与被困儿童对话，稳定其情绪，同时使用移动供气源向井内输送空气、水，防止儿童缺氧。
挖掘机挖到救援所需深度后，消防员用木板对作业面两侧进行加固，防止坍塌。根据井口、井下协同判断，消防员最终确定了儿童被困的准确位置，随后对井壁进行破拆，凿出孔洞后探入三根撬棍进行支撑，防止儿童继续下坠。给孩子做好安全防护后，消防员对井壁继续破拆。经过四个小时的紧张营救，男童被成功救出，生命体征平稳，并无大碍。（视频由辽宁台提供）
