Pak-Afghan transit trade begins in North Waziristan most affected by US drone strikes

North Waziristan is the only area on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border that has long been occupied by the Taliban.There was a time in the region when USA and NATO forces carried out the most drone strikes against the Taliban, but now that peace has been established here, Pak-Afghan trade has begun.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation Iqbal Wazir, KP Minister for Transport Malik Shah Mohammad, DC Shahid Ali Khan, DPO Shaifullah Gandapur, military officials, tribal elders and traders of Pakistan and Afghanistan attended the inauguration ceremony.
On the occasion two vehicles of transit traders arrived at North Waziristan Border point from Karachi were dispatched for Kabul.
The Pakistani Commerce Ministry informed Cabinet members that more than 832,000 containers of Afghan transit trade, carrying goods worth $33 billion, have passed through Pakistan during the last 10 years.
