The excise department officials seized raw liquor from newly developed houses constructed under a government housing scheme in central India's Madhya Pradesh on April 7. The incident took place in Patharia, located in the Damoh district.

Visuals feature the authorities gathered amid a construction site. Several plastic containers rest in front of them in a line-like formation. Later, one of the officials uses a stick to poke the container, following which it drops to the ground, and raw liquor spills from it.

The by-elections in the region are scheduled to get wrapped up by April 17, in the light of which the Excise Department of Damoh was alerted about the illegal manufacturing of raw liquor from one of the houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The officials seized at least 30 liters of raw alcohol from Ward Number 14 and destroyed 1,500 kg (3,306 lbs) worth mahua extract recovered from the site. They registered three cases under the Excise Act.

Moreover, the raid was carried out under the leadership of Assistant District Excise Officer Pawan Kumar Jharia, along with the Excise Sub-Inspector, Madhusudan Deewan, and the flying squad of Jabalpur.
