Elephant calf falls inside well, rescued by forest officials in Eastern India

An elephant calf that fell 15 ft down the well was rescued by the kind hearted forest officials in the Bisushol village of Deuli range in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha in Eastern India.

The calf stay afloat for hours before the villagers discovered the pachyderm inside the deep well.

The villagers heard the trumpeting cries of the little beast and approached near the well to discover the presence of the animal.

Soon, the villagers alerted the forest officials who then arrived at the spot and tried to haul out the tusker.

After frantic efforts the officials could not take it out of the well.

Fighting a race against time to save the wildlife, the officials then called a JCB who dug out the well and made a smooth path for the little tusker to freedom.

The visuals in the end emotionally shows the tusker playfully chasing one of the locals as it enjoys the freedom and a lease of new life.

The forest officials and villagers suspected that the elephant calf had come in search of water in the dark and it was then it fell inside the well.
