A monkey in India has adopted a puppy as its own baby, even taking it up a tree to protect it from humans that were trying to help.

The money is unusually friendly with local dogs, hanging around and often playing together.

But then it took its closeness to canines to the next level by adopting a newborn puppy. The monkey takes this puppy with it wherever it roams.

Some people tried to take the puppy from the monkey by offering food to distract it, but then the monkey mom got defensive of its adopted child and started to attack the public. At one point it took the puppy to the top of the tree to defend it from the humans it mistakes for a threat to its ‘baby’.

But a strange thing happened was the monkey adopted a puppy that was just born.
